I would like to reinstal windows XP pro without loosing My Docs. How can I do it?

I don't remember my account name and cannot boot last install anymore.

Put the disk in another machine and copy the files over. Setting up a backup routine for yourself would be advisable. 🙂

Well, I had that idea before too, but wanted to se if there was a workaroung. I tried to see my account name using recovery console but it didn't let me get out of windows directory. I think the name should be insode of Doccuments and settings right?
 
Boot fromthe XP CD and when presented with the option of either re-installing XP or repairing the existing XP choose Repair and it will ask for a new password. The only drawback is you have to re-register and download all updates again. When you get done everything will be the same except for XP requiring updates. All the exisiting programs will still be there and also all your My Documents. Next time, make sure you make a separate drive for your documents. So ifyou have to re-install you do not worry about losing your date.
