Windows Registry Recovery

Ok, wife was using the computer and called me into the room conplaining that she just had to reboot 4 times. The message on the screen said, "One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful."

Well, the recovery wasn't successful, as I keep getting this message every time I boot. My LAN connection icon is missing from the taskbar and every time I try to open an Internet Explorer browse, it pops up only to disappear in less then a second.

So I do I restore my registery from earlier today or yesterday - which I know is a good working copy?

Thanks for the help guys.

System Restore should have several days' worth of copies at a minimum. Yesterday should be fine, but keep going backwards until you stop having issues.

Looks like you got it fixed, but you might consider adding something like a registry cleaner software, Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc. to help prevent this kind of thing from happening a second time (if you don't already have these installed, of course). Editing the registry in Windows can be extremely delicate and it's something you can't afford to make a mistake with.
