Windows reboot & uninstall problems

Whenever I start my computer, the computer says it has recovered from a major problem and reboots automatically. I do notice that something called a "kernel fault check" runs upon startup. I delete that item but it keeps coming back. Unlike some of the common reboot problems, my computer only reboots once.

I downloaded many shareware programs that I now want to uninstall. These programs used to show up in the install/uninstall menu but ever since their trial period ended disappeared from this menu. I don't want to manually deleted them since it would leave file fragments across my hard drive. What's the best course of action?

Please let me know what can be done. Thanks!

Backup any files that you would like to save. Format your hard disk and reinstall your Operating System.

Sounds like a cunning plan.

Before you format, have u got all updates, virus checked, run adaware etc?

when did the problem start, when does it occur, have you installed / uninstalled any programs or hardware just before it happened?

Back up your files still though
