Windows PW ??

Hello everyone......

I use to know this, but I've never needed to use it, so now that I need it I'm stuck! ugh!

Does anyone know how to defeat that pesky Windows password prompt?

I bought a used computer for my dad. It's way more computer than he will ever need or use, but the previous owner (who DID give me the password) set it up as a multi user. When starting the computer it stops and asks for the password. This is a standard Windows 98 OS. Nothing fancy or exotic. I have gone into control panel and looked at the "Users", but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious in there about this. I know how to FIND passwords and I can delete them if I want, but that doesn't stop the prompt from coming up. 🙁

All I want to do is stop the prompt from coming up in the first place.

If I have the pw why bother? Well....if you knew my dad.....he is crabby about things like that, and easily frustrated, and I want things to be as easy for him to use as possible. Seeing this prompt every time he starts the computer will be a major annoyance to him, and I'm trying to get him to start using it.....it'll be good for him and it would be useful to him also.

Hoping someone can help out....thanks!

Right click the Network icon on the desktop, properties, primary logon....change to Windows LogOn...done deal. 🙂

do a search for this *.pwl and delete the beggers when you reboot it will ask you for a password --- leave it blank and press ok boom no more password prompts
