Windows Protection Error

While booting up my pc i recieved BSOD. It read

"While inititalizing device NTKERN
Windows protection error
system halted. "
I got this after having my computer off for over 5 hrs.

the last thing i installed on my pc was direct x v8.1b cause i had another problem with my pc.

i'm running win me.
soyo k7v dragon mobo
1.4 ghz athlon w/ stock hsf
and 256 ram from crucial.
ATI Radeon 8500
right now my pc is acting real screwy when trying to boot.
I got a another BSOD saying there was a problem with
VxDIFSMGER(01) while booting up my machine this morning

Do you happen to have any USB devices connected, such as a Joystick or scanner?

If you do, you will need to un-install and re-install those drivers.

i have none nor do i have any pci devices either.

Check in the SYSTEM EVENT VIEWER to see what the VXD error is linked to.
Copy the info along with the Error Code and post it here.

Can you boot in safe mode or at all?

This might be of help to you pinpointing the problem.
