HELP! I was running Windows 98 on an MMX 200 that I upgraded last night to an Athlon 700 - However, with the HD transfer for some reason on bootup I now get an

While initializing device CONFIGMG: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this or what it means? I'm assuming that one of the drivers is screwed up... so I went into Safe mode but can't seem to fix it. Anyone?

You could try deleting the ENUM key from your registry, which is where all your hardware settings are kept in windows. But you need the windows CAB files on your hard drive as you will not be able to access you cd rom. Do as follows:

1. put cab file on HD or copy win cd to HD
2. go start, run, type regedit and hit enter
3. double click on HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
4. right click ENUM and delete
5. reboot machine
6. when windows asks for cd point it to CAB files
7. Bingo computer now running

Good luck.
