Just got a new computer recently, with:

A7V133 m/b
1.33GHz AMD CPU
512mb ram
SB Live Value
Leadtek 64mb Gf2 GTS Pro
Win98 SE

Anyway, in the last couple of days, when I've tried to start up a game, it's booted me to a black screen with a tiny bit of blue and green fuzz on the top. When I press Esc, it clears the screen, then says, "Windows protection error. You need to restart..." or something. The first few times it happened, a cold reboot got rid of it. Now, nothing seems to stop it happening. I've reinstalled the graphics card drivers a few times, but it still happens. The only thing I haven't tried yet it reinstalling the SB drivers. I've got the latest versions of both, and the m/b drivers as well.

Almost all the references to 'windows protection error' I've found seem to only happen during startup/shutdown. The only case that seems to be at all similar is here.

Funny, that. Just when I was going to send this post, it suddenly works fine after the last reboot. Still, it'd be nice to know just what could be causing it. Anyone?
