When pulling up System from Control Panel, the opening tab shows info about the op sys version and processor, memory and such. And on this old Packard-Bell I've rehabed to give away, the screen shows the name of the original owner. Does anyone know how to edit that info and clear away that name? thanks zz03

i thank you for that info, i learned something new. but unfortunately it addresses every part of the screen in question except the user name. any further thoughts anyone? this is win2k, not xp btw

I'm running Windows 2000 and just looked at that screen. It says it's registered to <my name>. I assume the name is gotten when Windows is installed, so to change that you'd either have to do a fresh install of Windows or possibly find where it is in the registry and edit that.

Muse i am sure you are right, i only did an upgrade from 98 to 2k, and that prolly did not change that basic info. X-Setup did the trick, thank you all for your input, and wat a valuable resource for picking thru all those settings. zz03
