What he doesn't say in that quip is what the return rate is. If the rate is proportionally lower, well, that tells a different story. Of course not every OS is for everyone.

Six out of the top ten highest rated phones on Amazon, including 100% of the Windows Phones available from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint - yes, even the aforementioned HTC Arrive. The only one missing is the HTC HD7.

If customers like it so much then why are the carriers so disinterested in it?

Well thats simple - quantity. The customers that buy it, like it, but not a lot of people are buying them. Actually, the Sprint guy in the Engadget article hit on something important - its a perception problem. Most people don't know it exists, or had an old Windows Mobile phone and don't know that its a completely new OS.

I don't know about you, but I've been seeing ads for the Lumia 710 everywhere, so it appears some marketing muscle is being put behind the new phones. We'll see what happens.

How are WP7 users supposed to monitor their data usage?

I know its redicilous, I can go to my carriers website to check my data usage but it is never realtime, it is usually a day or two behind and its just general usage I want to know whats doing what. would love to do to some internet radio streaming and even get a zune pass but not if I cant monitor my data usage real time beucase it can get expensive real fast for going over.

There's supposedly going to be a huge $200 million marketing campaign for the Lumia 900. Hopefully that will finally get people excited for Windows Phone.

I don't think the lumia can bring 200mill home, wasting all that money would be a joke.

The $200,000,000 ad campaign is a joint venture between Nokia, AT&T, and Microsoft, as far as I know.

If a million Lumia 900s can be sold, that should come close to breaking even. If Lumia 800 sales are anything to go by (they probably aren't a great model, honestly; Nokia has brand loyalty outside of America), the Lumia 900 should be fine.

I'm an iPhone 4 owner, and I came REALLY close to getting a Titan a couple of months ago. I left WM for iPhone in 2008 simply because MS wasn't being competitive. If WP7 had come out in 2008, I'd probably be using WP now.

There's several things that stopped me from switching, but two I think are worth noting here.

One, I've had a iPhone since 2008. I bought an iPad in 2010 and 2011. I'll buy one in 2012. My wife, whom is a die-hard Apple hater loved my iPhone 3G so much that she made me get her one on AT&T and we rode out the rest of her contract on Sprint with that phone unused. Suffice to say, I'm pretty well invested in the Apple ecosystem and the thought of having to rebut or find substitutions for applications I use wasn't a good thought.

But beyond THAT, the most important reason I didn't switch, was that I couldn't convince myself that WP7 did anything significantly better than an iPhone. Every review seems to talk about the great social integration. I don't use that crap. I have twitter and facebook. I tweet maybe once a week and log in to Facebook maybe once every 6 months. I just simply don't care and I don't want it to be a part of my life.

When I tried to examine the WP platform without taking in to account the social integration, it seemed like WP7 just didn't have anything. So, Apple gets my business for another year.

But this is great marketing and they're totally right. For the vast majority of people that use social sites very often, WP7 is hands-down the champion.

Do you listen to music in the car and does your car not have a way to fully integrate with your iPhone?

I can blindly change tracks on my Surround, swipe up to unlock, swipe left/right to change tracks.

Also, the ZunePass is boss (especially the old one that I am grandfathered into)

Past that though, you are right, it is hard to justify.

I actually found myself checking FB more back when I had my WP, it's a much cleaner interface than FB and a lot faster than loading up the app so I found myself checking it a lot more often. Now that I've gone back to an iphone I haven't logged into FB in a few months.

The main reason I'm thinking about jumping to the Lumia 900 when it comes out is that I have big hands and the ip4 gets frustrating to use sometimes, if Apple came out with an iphone 5 with a 4.3" screen I would be really happy, that seems to be the perfect size for me.

Yea, I rarely check Facebook or Twitter from other phones with standalone apps, but the People hub in WP7 is really awesome.
