Windows Pagefile?

I have 640 MB of PC800 RDRAM, and was wondering whould I leave the pagefile on at default, or lower it? If I should lower it, what amount would you recommend? Or, should I just turn it off?

The recommendation will always be 1.5-2x as much physical RAM that you have. As for lowering or raising your pagefile, that depends on what you do. I know some people who just put alot of physical RAM in their computer and completely disable the pagefile/virtual ram...

Ideally you should set it to 1.5x your physical memory and watch your memory usage patterns and adjust the pagefile size up if necessary. Making it smaller than the amount of physical memory isnt' recommend but usually won't hurt, disabling it totally is just plain stuipd so Windows won't let you do that.

You can disable your page file, but it is a stupid thing to do. The person I knew that did it uses a 400Mhz cellery with 768MB of RAM just to run AIM, IRC and other time wasters...
