I am currently using a windows 2000 OS. I am in the process of getting all the components for a new computer and am considering the xp OS. I find different prices, ranging from 150 to 300 dollars. what would be the best way to go? Went to microsoft web page and that didnt help much either (granted I didnt spend a whole lot of time there). Really getting wore out tryin to find all the "right" answers for this build.

thanks

Well, I'm going to make a guess since you're using 2000 right now, you want the professional version instead of the home version. You can see all the differences here.

The other thing you have to look at is OEM vs. Retail. OEM is much cheaper and you need to buy it with some sort of hardware, but you don't get support.

thanks for the post amdfanboy, much appreciated... if you do go with the OEM is there any kind of manual with it? And when you say support I assume you are talking about technical support via the phone...
