Hello everyone...Im using an ASUS p4c800 deluxe that ive had for roughly 3 years now...Ive had it overclocked and push my system to the max frequently. Sometime after installing Windows XP service pack 2 (but not sure if that was the beginning of the trouble) I found that even though windows detects an ethernet port, when I try to use the drivers from the mobo cd that previously worked windows reports that those drivers dont contain info about my hardware. Its a 3com gigabit port by the way. I can however install sysconnect gigabit ethernet drivers that XP packs by default. Is this a service pack 2 issue or have I possibly damaged my ethernet port somehow?

Check in the bios to make sure it isn't disabled, it's possible it got disabled in the bios. (On my older Dell laptop, IRDA gets disabled sometimes)

First check is the BIOS. As Goku says, it is possible that it got disabled. If it is OK there, and the mobo's Ethernet drivers won't install, then it could well be a damaged on board Ethernet. In that case, disable it in BIOS and install a NIC.

I did make sure it is enabled in BIOS and there is no apparant damage to the board and connectors themselves....Im currently using a PCI network card but it would be nice to solve this problem without having to load another operating system. I can live without using the onboard ethernet but Id like to know the answer for simple curiosities sake.

goto Asus's site and download the latest version. If that doesnt work, grab em from 3coms site.
