every once in a while, I'll download a video and the video will freeze on the first frame and the sound will still play...any help?

BTW, yes, i have tried to play it on a different player. Yes, I know the video is supposed to be playing (not a corrupt file or anything). Yes, I have checked for updates on Windows Media Player

It's likely that you don't have the right video codec for the video. If it's an AVI file, I'd suggest that you download a tool like GSpot that can help you figure out what video codec you're missing. Windows Media Player may not download the right codec on its own -- you may need to download and install it yourself. Let us know what the codec is.
