Windows Movie Maker

I was wondering if the Windows Movie Maker software included with Windows XP would allow someone who has a digital camcorder connected by a Firewire/i.link port to capture video and stills from the camera? Does Movie Maker have enough functionality for home video capture/editing?

You should be able to capture from a FireWire port. As long as the drivers are loaded and Windows sees it as a capture device Movie Maker will use it. Movie Maker is very basic editing package much like iMovie for the Mac. Although iMovie is a little more powerful.
