Windows Movie Maker Problem

after finishing my project i tried to save the movie file as a wmv. it converts to 45% but then just stops, and the time remaining just keeps going up. the size of the move is about 1.5 gb and i have plenty of space remaining on my hard drive. what is the problem? the specs of my system are:

AMD sempron 2600+
512gb ram
ati radeon 9200
