Windows Millenium drive a: detection problem. Please help!

I'm having a problem fixing my boot up. Windows always searches for drive a: at the end of the boot up. I've tried to click on the setup menu to not search for drive a: upon boot up..but that doesn't seem to help. I've tried to reinstall windows but that doesn't help either. I was wondering if I had to change the registry somehow. If I do can someone tell me how. Any help would be much appreciated by this computer newbie. Thanx
