Windows Messenger, plz help

I formatted and accidently installed the update for the MSN Windows Messenger from Windows Update. Now I cant uninstall the damn thing.

Normally after I edit the sysoc file in the INF folder, it shows up in add/remove, but not with the update! Anyone know how to uninstall it now?

I know there is another way of stopping it from running, but then Outlook Express loads hella slow, and I use it all the time. So that wont work.

copy this into start->run to remove MS Messenger

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

That will uninstall the program from your machine.

Hi,

I was wondering what other way is there to stop Messenger from running that slows down outlook express? I installed SP1 and either it did something or I did something by mistake but now outlook express takes minutes to load and msmgrs.exe still loads with it, I just can't see it but shutting it down also does not work. I also noticed that the option to log onto messenger at startup is also gone. The only thing I did that I know of is that I selected the "Do not automaticaly start Windows Messenger initially", and I bilieve it worked fine before SP1, altough I am not sure if SP1 is the actual cause of my problem.

I need to reverse everything back to normal such that Outlook starts up normaly and messenger loads with it. I do not want to remove messenger as I actualy use it ocationaly.

Thank You
Michael Elkin
