Windows Messenger keeps signing me off

Running Windows Messenger over here, on a XP-Pro installation. I seem to be able to stay on for about 5-10 minutes before the person I'm chatting with gets told that I'm signed off. After that, nothing else happens for a while. Then, I either AM signed off, or just continue as usual.

I'm on the latest version I can find (4.6.0073) running through a Linksys router (BEFSR41) with the latest firmware upgrades on Cox cable modem.

I use the Yahoo IM on a more regular basis and nothing seems amiss there. That being the case, I don't THINK the problem lies in the connection itself.

Any suggestions?
