windows media player won't play cd

When I try to burn or just play a c with Media Player or iTunes, they will only play the first and 5th track. The rest return a message that the cd may be scratched. This is with all cds that I have tried. I have even installed a new DVD/ cd drive to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? All help would be appreciated. Thanks

Four days and no replies? Really?

Are they burned CDs or factory pressed?

How about trying Foobar2000?

I don't play CDs these days, I rip them to FLAC first using Exact Audio Copy. There are guides out there for setting the software up. It's a pain the first time, but very easy after that.
