Windows Media Player problem

I have Media Player 9 on Windows XP Pro, which was working fine til about a week ago. Now, when I click on a link to any kind of media file I get this...

"Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline."

It plays stuff off my hard drive fine so if I download it first it's fine, but any links at all give me this error.

Anyone know what it could be?

1, If you have a firewall, i.e. Zonealarm or Norton ir could have Media player blocked.

2, if you use Adware or Spybot you might have removed some Media Player components that those programs detected as spyware.
