Windows Media Player pop up message

Any time I play a WMP song sample from any page for a CD on Amazon.com, I get this popup message:

Internet Sharing Configuration
C:\Program is attempting to change or view this computer's Internet Connection Protection settings. To give "C\Program permission to edit these settings for as long as the program is open, click YES."

There's a 'Do not show this dialog again' button below that, but checking it stops the pop up until I close WMP.

I've tried installing the latest WMP, but it didn't stop it.
How do I stop this?

Hmmm. I believe when that window opens Media Player is attempting to change your Internet Connection settings so that it can register itself with Microsoft. I'm have an older version of Media Player (but I mostly use Netscape's WinAmp) and I have Zonealarm set to never allow Media Player to access the Internet.
Unless you're dead set on using Media Player, I would use another application and set it to be the default application for WAV, CDA and other audio files.

In Windows Media Player go to Tools, then Options and click on the Network tab. Under Streaming Protocols uncheck UDP. Then you won't get that message any more! Don't you hate it when people who can't answer your question still give you information that is pretty much useless. Just for your info there is a WMA plugin for Winamp.

You hae a software conflict. Media Player and some other installed are at war over which system has the rights to do what with whom. Study and remove or make a new decision on what system is in charge.

Sorry, forgot to reply. FYI, that fixed it!
Also looks like Winamp 5.03 comes with the WMP 9 plugin.

I get this box popping up every once in a while.

How can i get rid of it. I dont know if its spyware, or a virus, or just a program???
Its very similar to the problem discussed here, but it says that iexpole.exe is trying to change th settings!

But there is nothing that i have done that would instigate this message? :(

What can i do? This came up after running spyware removal program too!
