Windows Media Player MPEG-1 problem

Whenever I try to play a video encoded in MPEG-1 in Windows Media Player, it will play the video but the colors will be distorted. Blue comes out as orange, white comes out as red, blacks as greens. This also happens when I try to use streaming video that is in MPEG-1 format. These videos run perfectly when I use VLC but I need them to work properly in WMP also. Can anyone help?

I had this problem one time, although i dont remember what i did to fix it. What version of media player are you using?
