windows media player crash's comp :(

i tried to watch a wmv on windows media player and it crashed i tried it a couple times it lags and than crash's not sure what problem is but wanna fix.

edit: gonna go and install windows media player 10 and see how that works.

update still doesnt work with windows media player 10 installed this is getting annoying someone please help.

its a ati card in my sig silver bullet also if you wanna know my drivers check my 3dmark05 out.

it completely crash's my computer i cant do anything to close box or go into task manager i have to press button to restart.

I think its time to refomat these problems are making me mad. problems i have had sound not working fixed, network adapter not working not fixed, cant install things can unistall things, random lag in bf2 network problem doesnt do this in any other game.

Same thing is happening to me!

I'm running a 6800 PNY card w/ current drivers (not beta) and no 3rd party codecs that I know of other than the DIVX codec but I got that from divx.com or whatever the official site is for it.

What happens for me is that the video will just completely freeze my computer and every once in a while i can move the mouse..but then if i push ALT+F4 or like CTRL+ALT+DEL it will screw the resolution of my display up so its like 100x200 or something worse and all I can do is restart the comp...

Did this with WMP v9 and v10

its annoying isnt it i swear i go to watch fps-doug the only thing that makes me happy and there it goes freezing.

that is it when i get my floppy drive i am reformating this computer has been nothing but bad for me since i got it its evil its getting a fresh install and not sp2 i want sp1.

If you're doing a fresh install, you should do the latest service pack as well.

Any browser that I try to run a movie clip from online will crash the browser (IE, Mozilla, etc). It doesn't crash the machine, just the browser.
