Windows Media Player and Quicktime

Everything was going well until I installed Itunes and Quicktime. What happens now is I try to play video that is on a web page, instead of windows media player opening and playing within the player, Quicktime now opens it as a little square in a blank web page. How do I get clicking on video files in explorer to use WMP instead of Quicktime in a browser window?

Pretty sure that Quicktime only opens MOV files in the browser. However, if Quicktime is opening non-MOV videos, just change the file type assocations under the options of WMP > file types.

I tried that.

Instead of just opening it in WMP, a box comes up asking me if I want to save it or run it. If I choose run, I then get an error that looks like this:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.

File: QTPlugin.ocx
Company Name: Apple Computer Inc
Description: The QuickTime Control allows you to view a wide variety of multimedia content in web pages.

After that, I am forced to close explorer and start over.

Yeah, I had problems with the newest version of Quicktime taking over every facet of media on my PC, regardless of what I set file type associations to. I had to uninstall Quicktime.
