hey i am running xp and win media player 8 is corrupt and when i load it the whole system crashes than reboots. i need to just reinstall that part ( i don't want to reinstall entire OS if i can help it) how do i tell setup or whatever to just reinstall win media player 8 ? thanks A LOT in advance!

okay when you do autorun the repair option isn't there, so i will try booting to it instead - i'll let you know if it works. thanks for the help !

the problem is that there is no auto-repair. just a repair console which is essentially low-level and you must know the name of every file in win media8 which i dont.

is there any simpler way to just reinstall win media 8 from the xp disc?

hmm, only other option I know is start/run>cmd & type sfc/runonce which supposidly restores any corrupted system files. you'll need your XP cd if you try this avenue!
