Windows 8 Pro is designed to help tech enthusiasts and business/technical professionals obtain a broader set of Windows 8 technologies. It includes all the features in Windows 8 plus features for encryption, virtualization, PC management and domain connectivity. Windows Media Center will be available as an economical “media pack” add-on to Windows 8 Pro. If you are an enthusiast or you want to use your PC in a business environment, you will want Windows 8 Pro.

So are they saying Windows Media Center is not part of Win 8 or just not part of that version. I remember some versions of windows not having it in the past.

I dont use it much myself. I just stream video from websites like HULU mostly so far.

The speculation on this is all over the place. Nobody knows for sure, but everybody agrees that its idiotic to require users to buy Pro, and THEN also buy the damned addon pack. This makes no sense. There is nothing in the Pro version that is needed for an HTPC box.

If they do this, and without significant improvements in MCE, the upgrade percentage of pure HTPC machines already running Win7 will be very close to 0%.

My own theory - MCE will be included in regular Win8, but it will only be available as an addon for the Pro version. At least this theory/speculation/will guess makes sense.
