Windows Media Center TV Issue

I know the card works for two reasons. 1. brand new from newegg, and 2. it works with beyond tv 3.5.

The problem is that there is no video and the media center.... program if you will "locks up", but i can still change channels. There is also sound fromt the TV.

Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
512MB of ram
Asus A7N8X Deluve motherboard
160GB hd
NEC 3500A DVD +/- RW drive
Windows Media Center Edition 2005
AVerMedia M150 MCE TV/FM tuner card
geForce 3 Ti 200 64MB

It's a fresh install *last night* with all the latest drivers and whatnot.

On a side note, I can't seem to enable dualview with my video card. I do want to use my TV as a second monitor.

what program are you using for your MPEG-2 decoder?

I've had good luck with PowerDVD6 and WinDVD6 and even ATI's DVD decoder (you obviously can't use that one)

🙂

You have to have one of those versions of dvd software for the TV tuner to use their decoder, otherwise you won't get a picture, or you'll get decoder errors.

Well it DID gave me a decoder error, but I forgot what I did to releve of that. I just get the errors that I have now.

*Is dual view supported on GF3?...I may be wrong, but I believe it only supports a single display at a time.

*MCE requires a supported DVD decoder for viewing TV or DVD's ...period. It is not shipped with MCE at all. You can download a trial of NV DVD decoders Here.

*GF3 may be unsuitable anyway...IIRC, it needs a DX9 hardware class card ( FX 5200+) for proper video rendering...looks like you need to do some homework🙂

I think PowerDVD6 or something along those lines will fix your problem. It specifically needs the special MPEG-2 decoder for functions of MCE, and I would assume that would be one of them!

Aww hell, I need a NEW video card? Dag nabbit. Better check the for sales then. *grumbles* I'll see if that works then.

No, a DVD decoder is handled in software. A new GPU is not necessary.

I'm pretty sure a new graphics card will be required. MCE has very specific hardware requirements and its probably best to stick closely to them. I do know that the list isn't exactly correct however since my AIW9700pro and eHome Wonder tuners works perfectly well and are not on the list...so YMMV. (The latest ATI DVD decoders are 100%MCE compatable as well)

This is an initial list of compatible products. The list will grow as products get submitted into the logo program.
