install the OS WITH THE REMOTE RECEIVER PLUGGED IN. I did it with out, it's a PITA to get it working on it's own, if you install with the receiver plugged in it should automatically install the drivers. There is nothing to configure on the remote. except you can progrram the tv power button and volume up/down to send different IR codes if you want.

If you install without the receiver, just update the driver for the unknown device and tell windows to check WU for the driver, it'll get it.
