Windows Media Center / 7750 problem

I just installed a new HIS 7750 iSilence card (HD4000 wouldn't play XBMC, old GT240 card too loud) in my HTPC. Everything is dandy in XBMC/iTunes/Windows Media Player, but in Media Center it refuses to play recorded TV programs from OTA broadcasts (fed in though a PCTV usb receiver). Media Center will play movies and music just fine, but says "Video Error: Cannot play video because drivers are missing. Restart Media Center or your computer". Interestingly, Media PLAYER will play the recorded TV files dandily. I've tried reinstalling Catalyst 12.8 and 12.7beta, neither helps. In sound devices, my Onkyo receiver via HDMI is the primary audio device, but Catalyst keeps installing 5 other "AMD HDMI Audio Devices". I thought perhaps WMC was getting confused, but disabling these ghost devices (possibly the motherboard audio channels?) doesn't help. Any advice?

Oh, I tried posting this to the AMD forum, but that place is a hot mess. Thanks for any suggestions on things to try.

Does the file play OK if you manually open it in Windows Media Player?

Sometimes Microsoft will block things just because they don't consider you to have the proper codec. Personally, I can play Blu-Ray video rips using XBMC fine on my computer, but Media Center on that same computer refuses to play the very same file because I haven't installed a program that has a proper codec that MS likes. So maybe you can look into how to convince Media Center that you have the right stuff to do it, just let you (I'm thinking it's a messed up permission thing, not lacking a technical capability).

Sorry I'm just speculating here.

Yep, WMP runs them fine. It's got to be something driver related, since other players are fine. I wouldn't think it's a permission issue, since the file does play for a couple of seconds (I forgot to mention that) with screwy audio, then it throws the error message. Thanks for the thought, though.

In this case I think KingFatty is correct; it's your software rather than your drivers. Could you please give us some more info on the files you're trying to play; a MediaInfo dump would be particularly useful.

Thanks for the reply, ViRGE. Below is a mediainfo dump for a recorded TV show. Interestingly, these files play fine listening through headphones connected to the motherboard and watching on my 24" monitor (DVI). It's only when the Onkyo 709 receiver (connected via HDMI, along with a Panasonic G10 Plasma) is active that the files can't be played. I'm beginning to think this might be an HDMI handshake issue. I might play with some different connections tomorrow and see what happens.
