Windows Media Center 2005: remote procedure server not available?

I just bought an used copy of Windows Media Center 2005.

It has 3 install cds, the first looks basically like XP Pro, the second like Media Center editions, and third (labelled updates to Windows Media Center 2005) looks like it is just XP Home / Pro SP2 cd.

I tried installing it on 2 different computers, and keep getting the same error message (remote procedure call server unavailable). The install goes fine until it requests the third disk (asking for some files on XP Pro SP2), doesn't find them, I cancel and it appears to install, but then startup hangs for quite a while, and when I try and run diskmgmt.msc I get the remote procedure call server unavailable.

What's going on, and how do I fix it?

(I tried substituting an actual XP SP2 cd for the the third cd bundled with Media Center 2005, and still get the same errors. This SP2 cd is for xp Home, but I always thought the SP2 was same for both XP Home and XP Pro)

Yes, I eventually figured that out with the help of Google.

I had to install .net 1.1 and .net 1.1 SP1 before I could successfully get that third cd installed.

Can I use nlite to create a slipstreamed install dvd? (if so, how, and will incorporating SP3 remove the necessity to all of that .net stuff?)
