Windows ME wants MS-DOS 8.00

Here is what happened... I kept on getting GPFs and BSODs and weird errors and then I just couldn't start up. So then I booted up from my Win98 floppy and ran SYS C: So that went well but now it's telling me it will only run on MS-DOS 8.00. I had ME before but never bothered to make an ME floppy... I get a Win98 startup screen now though.

You'll need to get a boot floppy that was made by someone with WinME. Then use WinME's sys again. (if the ME boot disk doesn't have sys on it, you can actually use the copy of sys that is still on your HD!).

Your other solution is to do a reinstall. Of course, you're probably trying to avoid doing this if possible. However, most of your settings and installed programs should be ok even if you reinstall so long as you don't do a clean.
