I did a clean install on a hard drive and everything goes fine when im installing programs drivers ect but then a couple of days pass and it tells me there is a problem with the registry and i cant get into windows or safe mode. Also i had another problem where the computer just stayed in the windows me loading screen. MY computer sepcifis are:

Abit motherboard
Pentium3 650
Asus geforce v6660
sound blaster live!value
128 megabytes of ram
and a 20.4 maxtor 5400rpm hardrive

That's windows ME for you, it's got lots of bugs. I've switched so far 3 out of my 4 computers back to win98se cus ME got way to many bugs.

BTW, "ect" is something phoney docs give flakes.
I think you mean etcetera.
But seriously. Have you actually looked at the registry? Use the DOS disk. I think your hardware is pretty safe except for the geforce, what drivers is that using?

Ok now i tried to reformat the harddrive and it just freezes on 4%

The hard drive is probably damaged right?

not necessarily...bad motherboard or RAM could also cause the system to freeze...corruption of the registry happens when it isn't written completely or correctly from memory to disk

Run a scandisk from DOS and see how that reacts. If it goes ok then load from a boot disk and format from there.
