This is exactly why I hate Microsoft. A few weeks ago I downloaded IEradicator, from the makers of 98lite. This removes all traces of Internet Explorer from any Windows box. Well, obviously I didn't know the extent of IE reach into Windows, but I will tell you that it is HUGE. Often times when file browsing I get folders being displayed as HTML code. I also get "Action Canceled" when trying to browse some folders, and an mess of %THIS% kind of stuff on others.
I tried installing 3Dmark2001 the other day, and it said "You need DirectX 8". While rebooting after installation of DirectX, I get atleast 30 lines of "Can't change %1 dir to %2" (or something like that). Then I get "can't complete installation, windows might not be able to boot" and I still don't have DX8.
Anybody know how I can fix this short of reinstall. Just a week ago I reinstalled 4 times in one weekend just to get a stable OS..
