Windows ME Installation Problems

When I start installing windows millenium it goes to the first procedure and while its copying the files it just stays in 8%. Anything I could do?

how long did u wait?
what are your hardware specs?
is this a clean install?
booted from a DOS command prompt only boot disk?

I have a asus v6660 geforce with sound blaster live and an abit motherboard. I have installed windows ME before but am currently having problems with it. I have waited for 10 minutes and it still does not work. Do you have any idea whats causing this?

Is this the upgrade version of winME that requires win98 to be on the machine? Typically when I install an OS on a blank hd, I copy the win9x directory from the cd onto the hd. It makes installation faster.

so is this a clean install or are u trying to install over your current winme?
