Windows Me install problems

Well if this is any indication of how this OS is going to work maybe I should take it back right now. I'm having difficulty with the verification that is required to install. I get all the way to the "Qualifying Product Check" and then it says to put in the setup disk for the original version of Windows and type the path to the Setup files which I'm not really sure how to do. If you have any experience with this procedure and could guide me through the process
I would be most appreciative. Looking forward to trying it out and hopefully without all the problems I see many of you have experienced. Thanks...

I think you have bought the upgrade to Windows Millennium, which is probably the wrong idea. The best install is always a full install 🙂

Anyway, grab your Windows 98 or Windows 95 CD and put it in your cdrom when it asks the "Qualifying" check thingy and then put the path as your cdrom drive ie. d:\ or whatever.

When you get that prompt just stick in a Windows 98 cd and hit continue. It will prompt you to reinsert the Me disk after it searches the 98 cd.

You can do a clean full install with the upgrade. Just do what Linflas said and put in your old 98 disk in when it asks for it. If will check it and proceed with a full install. I did this and have had no problems with ME.
