Windows ME, dialup lets me get mail but no internet?

I have a computer here running Windows ME. I am able to connect to my bellsouth dialup. However I can not access any webpages. My email through outlook express works fine and I am able to get my mail. I think there is just a setting I am missing for my internet settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have recently made the switch from broadband back to dialup or if you have taken your machine from an office to your home you will want to check the connection settings in internet explorer. Go into the control panel on Windows ME and double click internet options. Click on the connections tab. click on lan settings at the bottom and make sure the option to connect through a proxy is not checked. click ok. Sometimes you can also click on the setup tab in there and follow through the wizard for telling the OS that you are connecting through a dialup connection will solve the problem.

Another suggestion would be to ditch ME it is horrible... Lot of people always have connection issues
