Windows ME - browsing the network

I've setup a couple computers w/ Windows ME and there seems to be poor performance while browsing the network or copying network shares onto the local hard drive. The latter only occurs when copying a large sum of MB. While browsing the network, the first few folders are fine but as I get deeper and deeper into the folder tree there seems to be a long delay, sometimes to the point where my windows explorer freezes (or mebbe I just don't have the patience to wait it out).

The computer I'm trying to share with runs 2000server in a workgroup. I didn't have this problem when I had 98 installed and do not experience these problems on my 2000pro machine either. The machinese are comparable in performance hardware-wise.

Is this just a problem with my setups? or does Windows ME have 'issues'?

Thanks in advance.

I had some problems with WinMe and 2000 in networking. Ok here is what you do.
1.Uninstall Win ME on any computers you have.
2.Install Win2000 on the computers you just unstalled Win ME on.
3.Throw away your Win ME cd.
4.Please dont attempt to trade or sell Win ME its just not cool.

Thanx Sorry if i pissed you off but i think Win ME sucks.

Yeah, bunch of friends said the same thing. Actually, that's the ONLY solution I've gotten. Guess that's my only option. 😛
