I have an AMD64 3700+ and it goes between showing 984mhz and 1.77Ghz, it should show 2.2Ghz. This is MCE 2005 edition on a HP a1230n computer.

I saw something about this a while ago but cant find it now.

I do not have CnQ in BIOS. However, the CPU speed changes each time I look at the System Properties. 984mhz, 1.77Ghz, or 2.19Ghz (mainly the first 2)

Hit it a few times... sounds like the cpu just isn't sitting down and a few smacks should knock it down in the MB enough to get the right speed.... :D

I'd laugh if he did that.

It's C n Q doing it's thing. Run something intensive and then check, or disable C n Q and check...

sounds like Cool and Quiet slowing down the CPU when you aren't doing much. You can turn it off by going to the control panel > power options > change power sceme from "minimal" to something else, e.g., always on.

Altho your chip will be cooler if you leave it on.

I tried running AOE: III for the first time (bought it yesterday) and it said my computer didnt meet the requirements (minimal 1GHz) and it pissed me off.

thats not MCE doing that.. thats either a MB driver or CnQ as said before..
I run MCE on this same proc and it never gives me issues.

My power settings never where on "minimal power management", it was on Energy Star, and there is not a setting in BIOS to turn it off. I changed the power settings to Always On and it is showing 2.20Ghz constantly now.
