Windows lost after 2nd montior removed.

So, I was using a dual monitor setup at home. However I moved the second monitor to another computer system in my house. The problem I am having is that programs which were last closed on the 2nd monitor still open to the 2nd monitor. Even though it is no longer attached!

I have found two solutions:

1: Plug the 2nd monitor back in
2: Un-install then re-install the program in question.

But both of those are fairly tedious and I am sure some one knows a faster solution. A quick google search was not giving me any good answers so I pose the question to you fellow forum readers!

Thanks in advanced

Go into the Display Properties and set it to single monitor. It sounds like the system is still expecting a second monitor to be there.

Some apps are buggy and dont handle the loss of the monitor correctly. You can hit alt-space M (move) and use the arrow keys to move the window 'back' to the remaining display.

This is also a handy trick if I am remoting a client computer at work and want to see a window without changing their display settings

This.

My former desktop with XP with NVidia drivers handled this automatically. My new Vista installation with NVidia drivers doesn't.
