Actually if you look in the recent Dell ads they are offering computers with 2GB of RAM "Stock". They also reccomend AT LEAST 512MB for the normal user, 1GB for a "Power User".

2GB will be the standard for bleeding edge high end games by the end of 2006.

Yeah, but that's what bugs me - why put money and time into making something that 99% of the users will disable anyway. It's just retarded.

Because 99% won't change it. It looks flashy and user friendly, they know people with limited knowledge of computers will buy it, for the rest of us, they know we know how to change it, so we will still continue to buy it anyways (or download it :p)
