Windows Live One Care

I saw in a flyer for Office Max that they're having the Live One Care antivirus software on sale for $20 as a price drop, no mail in rebates or anything. Is it virus protection that's worth looking into? I'm going to be building my new PC this week so obviously I want to protect it, I'm running AVG Free on my laptop right now and it does the job alright, but if One Care provides good additional protection for $20 I figure it's worth looking into.

Anyone have experience with it?

I would wait for something like Kaspersky to go on sale. I've seen it free or close to it after rebate.

not sure how good live care is, but it couldnt be easier to use. its one of those 'allinone' programs that can take over your pc for a few hours, but it does figure a lot of stuff out. windows defender found a problem one time and pointed me towards live care, and it took awhile but basically one click took care of the problem. it worked well for me.

Kaspersky Internet Security (3-user license) | FREE after MiRs.

I have used the 1.x version in the past, very friendly to people who are not techies. AntiVirus Detection Rate Thread can get you some links to tests.

Don't you have to pay shipping on the free KAV7 from fry's ? Is the amazon deal still around ?

Yes and No. One MiR for KIS is a "competitive upgrade" rebate, fyi.

I was referring to one of the Frys rebate being a "competitive upgrade" rebate, the amazon deal died the 31st.
