Windows Live Mail Client

Hello! I have downloaded Microsoft's Windows Live Mail client and I want to use it with Gmail's IMAP setup. It works fine, but I want to tweak it. When I delete a message in Live Mail, how can I get the message to go into Gmail's "Trash" folder? I have tried many things from research, but I cannot get the client to do what I want.

options-->advanced--> "Use the 'Deleted Items' folder for IMAP accounts" = checked.

Then follow these instructions. I just tested it out and it worked for me.

Just note that if you have any pre-existing labels, you'll need to pre-pend them with [Gmail]/ for them to show up in the client.

So,"foo" would become "[Gmail]/foo"

Personally, I think it's fine. I like the interface and think it's prettier than most other clients. I actually use Thunderbird, but that's because I like to use the Lightning add-on for syncing with my google calendar. If WLM could/ever does support CalDAV, then I'll switch back to it.

It can sync with a Windows Live Calendar, where you can subscribe to other calendars...And then you could cross subscribe the Live Calendar in Google...so supposedly all the same information should show up in both calendars. But I found that wasn't terribly reliable.

Combining WLM with a Windows Live account will allow for contacts syncing across WLM clients (via the Live services network) as well.

I guess the other thing I've ever noticed, is its IMAP connections/commands tend to be a bit flakier than other clients. It might just be a timeout setting somewhere though.

Well, you can't use it with an Exchange server, and a number of other bells and whistles that outlook and exchange provide. For just sending and receiving email, pretty much any client works the same.
