Personally, I think it's fine. I like the interface and think it's prettier than most other clients. I actually use Thunderbird, but that's because I like to use the Lightning add-on for syncing with my google calendar. If WLM could/ever does support CalDAV, then I'll switch back to it.
It can sync with a Windows Live Calendar, where you can subscribe to other calendars...And then you could cross subscribe the Live Calendar in Google...so supposedly all the same information should show up in both calendars. But I found that wasn't terribly reliable.
Combining WLM with a Windows Live account will allow for contacts syncing across WLM clients (via the Live services network) as well.
I guess the other thing I've ever noticed, is its IMAP connections/commands tend to be a bit flakier than other clients. It might just be a timeout setting somewhere though.
