Windows/LCD Question

Alright, this is obviously embarassing but I need someone who has some experience with forcing resolutions on their monitors.

We just got a new LCD to test, but there does not seem to be a driver set for it yet. Unfortunately, windows won't let us display anything higher than 800x600 on it. Using powerstrip, i can force it to the native resolution of 1280x720. Unfortunately, Windows seems to create some sort of scrolling screen effect: The resolution stays 800x600 on the screen but there is somewhat of a "virtual" resolution of 1280x720.

Thoughts, comments?

What about the video card, does it support these resolutions. Were video drivers installed for it. If you didn't install a video driver then your bios will use a generic driver just to start your computer, but will not support a good range of resolutions. You can go to display properties then settings to see if the what monitor and video card shows and you could go to advance to see video settings for your video card if you installed the drivers. Example (Dell PIII0 on Radeon 9800 pro). If the resolutions you need are not selectable, its because your monitor or video card doesn't support those resolutions or you don't have the video card driver installed correctly.

I don't know if this works for LCDs but try changing the refresh frequency for the monitor (it works for CTRs) that sometimes opens up more resolutions.
Also, what brand is the monitor?
You've probably already tried but try checking google for someone who had similar problems...

Ah, got it finally. Made a custom resolution, threw it on my 2001FP. Then i switched the cables. I didnt think that would work but it did.

Thanks for your help everyone!
