Windows installer BSODs when XMP is enabled.

My RAM (DDR3 2133 G. Skill Ripjaws X) seems to malfunction on my new 2500K system when I enable XMP in the BIOS. I don't know why, as it is rated for 2133 at 1.5v.

Does the SB memory controller need to be overvolted to run at that speed?

The RAM was no more expensive than 1600, so I got it.

Depending on the motherboard sometimes when you enable the xmp profile it does wacky things like overclocking the cpu. Maybe try setting up the memory manually in bios.

you are sadly misinformed
first of all there is no such thing as 2133 RAM that will run at that speed @ 1.5V
the ripjaws are rated at 1.65 volts and with 8 GB I wouldnt think of running them at less than 1.655

Secondly, Raja has reported that even if RAM is on the QVL list, even if it has special XMP mode - it may have to have the settings made manually because vendors are sometimes overoptimistic that their RAM will go with NON SANDY BRIDGE SPECIFIC settings.
