Windows Install problem

I installed Windows on my fully newly built pc last week, but a mate decided to look at horribly virused porn sites against my direction so that HD is now screwed until I can get it devirused.

I bought a new hard drive so that I can attempt to clean the virused HD with it. The problem now is the Windows installation. Everything seems to work fine until part way through what I call the "last phase" of installation (where you have a windows look to things).

The problem:
Shortly after deciding language/clock settings a window pops up saying that various files cannot be found in the D:/i386 folder, you can click retry or cancel. Clicking retry does nothing (has clicking retry ever done any good?), clicking cancel asks if you would like to continue the installation without the file. If you click yes it comes up with the next file that you need to install from that folder... this is a repeating process that I imagine carries on until there are no more files left to cancel! Now strangely if you click no it continues with the installation as normal and almost seems to forget the entire folder, Windows does manage to install, but it doesnt look as it should. It basically has the non fancy look (similar to Windows 2000). I tried to install it again but the same problem arose.

Does anyone know how to solve this? Is it a problem with the Windows disk itself?

I dont want to set Windows up incorrectly and end up running in to big problems down the road!

But this edition worked last time I set it up... and the new Hard drive I have bought is EXACTLY the same as the one that I have removed!

The most bizarre thing...

I thought it might be a DVD drive problem, so I put in the only other drive I had to hand... a drive that had been removed from another pc because it wasnt working properly!

This drive performed it all fully brilliant and everything worked perfectly... until Windows was fully installed at which point it started having its problems again!

... There is something going on here, something that could turn out to be very interesting indeed
