My PC was working perfectly but i got greedy and wanted the trial of xp64bit installed. I have 2 SATA 200gb drives in RAID 0, and partitioned it into 2 chunks.

I installed xp64 but i was getting random errors and all while using it.

I decided to revert back to regular xp pro and i installed just like normal. got into setup and installed my SATA RAID drivers by pressing F6. Everything went successfully and then it restarts like normal. when restarting, the PC is hanging at the screen that says "Press any key to boot from CD....."

Normally its supposed to autoboot into the next section of the install but it's just hanging here.

HEre are my important PC stats:
Tyan Thunder K8W
2x opteron 64
2x wd 200gb hdd

EDIT: forgot to comment that i can press any key before it gets to the last dot and it'll completely restart the install process.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but I had a similar problem installing XP before. It would do the first part of the install and then would say computer is rebooting and install will continue when it reboots. But it would just go back to the beginning of the install every time.

Reset my BIOS and everything worked fine. Happened after my hard drive crashed and I put in a new one, but I hadn't made any BIOS changes so who knows.

But I would have to say it's a problem with the way it's recognizing your hard drive and not seeing the first part of Windows already installed.

Dunno if that helps or not.

Sounds like it is not booting from the HDD. Remove the CD and see the error message. Verify that the partition is Ok and active. Verify BIOS settings for drive.

Alright, I've tried booting without the CD and it now just sits at the black screen with the flashing underscore.

Before submitting this reply, i reflashed my bios and restarted and low and behold it works.

Thanks guys for the simple suggestion of reflashing. honestly, it wouldn't have been one of my first thoughts.
