Windows Implementation of apples spaces

Spaces are what Apple calls virtual desktops or machines. Yes - Win 7 Pro will let you set up such a virtual machine to run XP or some other OS.

And generically,: http://www.windows7.cc/windows-7-software/windows-7-virtual-desktop-manager/

Whether or not you like it is a personal choice. 🙂

I wouldn't equate virtual desktops with virtual machines.

Apple's Spaces are definitely virtual desktops (and I agree with Nothinman that I haven't found a nice, seamless, well-integrated manager for this functionality on Windows).

Windows XP mode is definitely a Virtual Machine.

Two entirely different things.
