Windows Home Server quick questions

Meaning, if WHS were to fail for one reason or another. Would it be possible to retrieve the data using the following method:

1. take out a harddisk
2. put harddisk in USB enclosure
3. plug USB enclosure in a Windows XP system
4. copy files into Windows XP system.

rinse and repeat steps 1-4 for each harddisk.

Can I use the files immediately when they're on the windows XP system?

Thanks for the replies.

As noted, Windows Home Server saves the data files in standard NTFS-formatted volumes which can be read by most any PC.

If you've enabled Folder Redundancy, then you may have to look at all your disks to find the actual data files (rather than a tiny tombstone).
