windows home server file copy lockups

has anyone noticed frequent lockups of WHS during file operations? I have an A64 board with 2 750GB Seagate SATA hard drives and an intel 100 server nic . When I do lfile operations like robocopy, browsing, searching, then the host appears to lockup and I have to go hard reset it.any help is greatly appreciated.

I haven't experienced anything like that with my (six or seven) WHS servers. Neither have I read of any ongoing issues like that. Are you running any third-party add-ins? Anti-Virus?

You should probably start with the standard PC troubleshooting steps:
1) Memtest
2) Hard disk diagnostics
3) Latest hardware drivers
4) Latest Windows Updates
5) Examination of Windows Application and Event Logs
6) Check power and data cables and connections

I'd say you have some hardware issues somewhere because that's not at all typical of either WHS or Windows Server 2003 (which is its base).

maybe the 100Mb nic is getting way over saturated? and couple that with a bad version of the driver that wasn't really meant for WHS (2003 server core) could create issues like this. What network driver build are you using?

I've never experienced anything like that with my WHS and I've been running it for over 2 years straight. Sounds like a hardware issue. I suppose it'd be pretty easy to throw in a different NIC to rule that out right away. Is the one you have in there very old?
