Heard that there is a patch from Microsoft for Windows concerning the HDD and closing Windows. Think it has something to do with when you close Windows with 1GH+ CPU there is not enough time to empty memory/cache???

What is it and where can I download it???

It's a patch that adds 2 seconds to the shutdown time to ensure that the hard drive write cache has been completely cleared to the hard drive to prevent loss of data when Win98 shutsdown too fast.

Grab it either at the Corporate Download Site or Windows Update.

Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package
223 KB/ Download Time: < 1 min
The Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache package provides a workaround to a recently identified issue with computers that have the combination of Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) hard disk drives with large caches and newer/faster processors. Computers with this combination of hardware risk losing data if the hard disk shuts down before it can preserve the data in its cache

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/default.htm and click on "product updates" when the page loads, look down under "recommended updates" for "Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package" and select it and hit the download button. Read the info about it first ot make sure you want it,it can't be ubinstalled. It has given me No troubles.
